I have pretty bad anxiety and about a week ago was prescribed 25mg of Zoloft, what are the usual side effects? I've heard an equal amount of horror stories as I have positive stories. I took Celexa for 3 days but it caused me to have a severe panic attack that lasted 3 days and I'm not willing to have that happen again. About a year before taking Celexa, I took it with Wellbutrin for about 4 months for depression and never had a side effect like that. I also know Zoloft and Celexa are both SSRI's so I'm nervous to take it. At this point my Anxiety is under control more, but I'm still having at least one mild panic attack a day. I just wanted to know about other people's experience with the drug. I'm honestly very scared to take it, but I can't handle my anxiety anymore. 3 weeks ago I switched to Sertraline and have not really noticed any improvement. Still depressed, no appetite, anxiety and panic attacks. Also not sleeping great so started taking Trazodone on 3rd day at 150 mg. I am able to get some sleep but takes awhile to get to sleep. Today I started crying and feeling so depressed. Zoloft was the first medication I tried. It did wonders at first and I felt like my old self before my anxiety and depression hit. After about 6 months of being on 50mg dose of it though it made me completely numb and all I did was sleep. It's different for everyone though and what doesn't work for someone might work for you. How Long Did Zoloft Take To Work? Depression Forums would love to hear from you! A New Look. It took me about 4 weeks on the Zoloft before it fully kicked in. I'm. Lexapro (Escitalopram) is a selective-serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) prescribed for the management of numerous neuropsychiatric conditions, including: major depressive disorder; generalized anxiety disorder; social anxiety disorder; obsessive-compulsive disorder; and panic disorder. Occasionally, Lexapro is sometimes prescribed off-label as an intervention for premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and seasonal affective disorder. Although Lexapro is very similar to the drug Celexa in that it contains the same active stereoisomer, some patients claim to derive greater therapeutic benefit from Lexapro by comparison. Considering that escitalopram (the generic version of Lexapro) is inexpensive, only costing around $2 for a monthly prescription, it remains a heavily-prescribed antidepressant medication throughout the United States. If you receive a prescription for Lexapro to manage a neuropsychiatric condition like major depressive disorder, you may be curious as to how long you’ll need to take the drug before it starts working or “kicks in.” Assuming you already Googled how long it should take for Lexapro to start working, it’s likely that you uncovered mixed reactions among users: some suggesting that the drug works right away (on Day 1) and others emphasizing that it takes weeks (6 to 8 weeks) – so who is right? In terms of exerting an effect within the central nervous system and altering neurotransmitter levels (particularly serotonin), Lexapro always starts working on the very first day of administration. In fact, Lexapro begins significantly inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin within just a few hours of ingesting the first dose. Although Lexapro substantially modifies neurotransmission on the first day of treatment, this does not automatically mean that users will derive therapeutic benefit – or even notice that the medication is “working.” While a small percentage of Lexapro users may respond to the medication rapidly (e.g. I tried this when I was a teenager and it turned out to be extremely counterproductive. Yeah I had heard tons of "horror stories" about Zoloft and SSRI's (not directly aimed at teens but in general) so I was a little nervous I just wanted something directly to treat anxiety but I scored fairly high for depression as well as anxiety so my doc said Zoloft has shown great results in treating both.50mg is a pretty low dose so I think I have gotten all the benefits and not a lot of side effects. I've often heard it doesn't work as well with teenagers as much as it does work with adults. Basically only a little nausea and dizziness/mild loss of balance and the occasional bit of anxiety. I'll take all of those side effects and more over the crippling panic attacks and chest pain and hopelessness I was experiencing every day. First two weeks were pretty hard bunch of side effects all at the same time anxiety was still sky high and I was expecting to be instantly healed (my doctor did inform me otherwise). No numbness or zonked out like I've heard other have felt. I also paired this treatment with weightlifting which is great for anxiety. But yeah totally understand that other people have different reactions to it but I definitely recommend people try it if they are thinking about it. My thoughts are just rushing non stop and it's hard to focus on things for long. It has worked wonders for my anxiety/panic attacks, but the first few weeks on it were hard. I've only been on it a week and a half so I really hope it get's better soon. Zoloft how long before it works Sertraline Zoloft NAMI National Alliance on Mental Illness, Just Got Prescribed Zoloft.
