Not diagnosed with rd but on methotrexate and plaquenil

There have been a number of coronavirus cases in Florida and two deaths there from the illness. Being on immunosuppressants I'm a little nervous to be travelling there.

I started on plaquenil for Psoriatic Arthritis in 2015. 200mg twice daily. I didn’t feel too bad but a huge bout of stress made my symptoms worse. I then started methotrexate in addition to plaquenil. My rheumatologist suggested once daily Plaquenil and that seemed okay. After a while he said I coujd stop it as he was not sure if it was. I am not sure what your question is, but Plaquenil is very well tolerated at the dose of 400 mg daily. If you are a very small person your rheumatologist may wish to decrease the daily maintenance dose, but I know that many patients are continued on the 400 mg daily dose for long periods. I was diagnosed with RA in march and have been on increasing dose of methotrexate. Yesterday my rheumatologist started me on hydroxychloroquine as well. Is anyone else on this combination and have you had any problems with it as I know hydroxychloroquine can cause eye sight problems. Thanks

Am I crazy to go into an area with known cases of coronavirus? We're watching our government travel advisories and won't go if they issue anything about Florida because our travel insurance won't cover us in that case.

Turns out these drugs are for CPPD attacks which I have never had. I told her I understood that CPPD could be a symptomatic and these drugs were not appropriate.

I was diagnosed in August 2015 and started on methotrexate immediately. I have been on it weekly ever since. So far, I have no joint damage showing up on my x-rays. I have minimal pain most days and take no other meds for RA except occasional NSAIDs. I am really glad I started methotrexate right away. TMA Member Thank you for answering our questions.
